Drapery glass was made by rolling molten glass onto a smooth surface to produce a flat sheet. Using hand tools, artisans pushed, bunched, and twisted the hot glass, which cooled and kept its sculptural form. The resulting glass has a three-dimensional quality that mimics the folds and drape of fabric, giving figures tangible volume and a sense of movement.
