We hosted a sweet group of kids from Springhouse School this week.

We had a very nice visit today with a local homeschool group. One of the students played a fun tune on the pump organ then after the house tour there was a very exciting game of Ante-Over.

We enjoyed several days of tours from Falling Branch Elementary this week. Thank you to all the volunteer Highlanders that helped us share some local history with the 5th graders.

We had a nice visit yesterday from several members of the Count Pulaski Daughters of the American Revolution Chapter. After the tour, another visitor was noted crossing the road, we made sure the cute little Virginia Eastern Painted Turtle had a safe trip across the lane leading to the Conservancy.

Happy May Day! The brisk wind didn't hamper our tour and walk with the Blacksburg Parks & Rec Joy Ride. The group enjoyed the tour, the outside art work, and a short walk down to the overlook. If it had been warmer we may have shelled some corn or challenged them to a rowdy game of ante over. Alas, there is always next time. Thanks for the fun group. The last photo is the Carolina Spice bush in bloom right outside the Farmhouse.

Our good friends will be sharing music at the Pulaski Library this coming Saturday at 11am. And they will be at Wilderness Road Regional Museum during the Mary Draper Ingles Festival in July sharing "Traveling Songs" on Sunday July 30th.

Yesterday we hosted a fieldtrip for Belview Elementary out of Montgomery County. RU students from Recreation, Parks, and Tourism helped present the tours and did a really nice job. And a few lucky students of all ages witnessed a honey bee swarm pass over. We have had great weather for all the school groups and have welcomed kids from Giles, Wythe, and Montgomery Counties, along with some of leadership from the Pulaski County School System.

We hosted another wonderful group of students yesterday for the Farmhouse tours. It was a beautiful day, and the kids were so eager to learn and enjoy the experience. After the tour they had their, lunch up at the barn located at the retreat center, before traveling back to Wythe County. Next week we will be hosting a school group from Montgomery County.
