The Tar Heel Junior Historian Association is made up of history clubs across the state of North Carolina for young people in grades 4-12. The purpose of THJHA is to encourage the study of local and state history and to help young people better understand and appreciate their place in history through study and action. Junior historians save forgotten cemeteries and buildings, bring local heroes ove

rdue recognition, preserve veterans’ memories, visit artisans, and trace their family trees. Chapters are based in public, private, and home schools, as well as in other settings like museums and historic sites. Membership in the program is FREE, and clubs shape their own activities. Member benefits include:
• copies of Tar Heel Junior Historian magazine for all student members and
advisers;
• membership cards and stickers;
• a club charter;
• a variety of annual project contests, with winning entries exhibited at the
museum;
• the THJHA Annual Convention, which features exciting and informative
workshops;
• and resource materials for educators.

Make your mark on our It's Revolutionary! project by working with the BEYOND The Exhibits team to contribute to resources for educators across the state!

The North Carolina Museum of History is looking for a team of educators to work with us on a project for the upcoming 250th Anniversary of the American Revolution. As part of the It’s Revolutionary! endeavor, we are producing an Educators’ Notebook with background information, primary and secondary sources, and lesson plans. We will contract with teachers to create original lesson plans targeted towards fourth, eighth, and high school audiences.

Details:
-BEYOND The Exhibits will provide background information and other resources for teachers to use and reference when creating lesson plans.
-BTE will provide a lesson plan template.
-Educators will create 20-25 original lesson plans for their assigned grade level based on the notebook outline.
-Contracted teachers will be paid $8,500.00 in four installments in conjunction with Notebook work schedule.
-Work will begin in the summer of 2024 and conclude in March of 2025.

We appreciate you considering sharing your expertise and experience with educators across the state and beyond by working with the Beyond The Exhibits team on It’s Revolutionary! Apply at: https://bit.ly/3QLTNb3 by Friday, May 31.
