I grew up in Mansfield, Ohio and graduated from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh in 1983. I took a job as an artist at my hometown newspaper and spent the next ten years working for mid-western newspapers, including the Chicago Tribune.

For those who have known Brian Shawcroft:

Hey all I am Sharing a message about the dedication of "Masks of Comedy and Tragedy" this Sunday, February 24 at 3pm. Given to honor Brian Shawcroft by Kathleen Gruer, this is a new sculpture by Paris Alexander for the facade of the Sutton Theatre.
All are welcome should be beautiful warm day, stop by Raleigh Little Theatre, 301 Pogue St. Raleigh.

“For this reception in honor of Brian, we've invited his colleagues from the Raleigh Arts Commission and RLT supporters. Light refreshments will be provided and there will be brief remarks shortly after 3pm.

We invite you to park in the Theatre’s main lot off of Pogue Street, and no permit is required. The ceremony will be outside and/or in the Sutton Theatre lobby, depending on weather. We do have matinees of Junie B. Jones, the Musical at 1 and 5pm that day but the show only runs one hour.
