In the History of Ramer Station, Tennessee group we asked for guesses on what this item could be and most answered correctly! Once the cotton was picked it would be placed in a large bag like the one pictured below. It would then be weighed on a Cotton Scale( Beam Scale). Come and visit the Ramer Museum for more interesting pieces of history!

The Ramer Museum is open on Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each of these days.
It is located. behind Ramer
Elementary School at 170
Key Lane. We are seeking the following type of items: old pictures, family genealogies, history narratives and books, Ramer sports events, business and industry histories, church histories, church hand fans, and smaller heirloom family possessions. All items are welcomed as either 'a loan' or 'a gift. If desired, each item can be designated "in memory of" or "in honor of."
You are invited to visit and bring your contributions during museum open hours.
