Raymond Area Museum

Raymond Area Museum Our local, hometown museum was officially launched in June 2019. We did not have a space until January 2024, and moved into it in March 2024.

We are located in the Raymond Event Center on Day Street. Our mission is to discover and preserve our heritage, including the people of the city of Raymond (incorporated in 1888) and the surrounding townships.

We welcome one and all with an interest in Raymond area history to our annual get-together from 4-7 today. Come for all or for part, whatever works for you. PLEASE NOTE: the county is tarring the main drag in town today so you might want to use an alternate route to the museum if they are still working.

This kind of Minnesota weather is why we stay here, right? Lovely day, enjoy every minute!

We invite you to our annual meeting THURSDAY, JUNE 18 from 4-7.
It's a great chance to find out more about this adventure we call RAYMOND AREA MUSEUM, with a mission to preserving the history of Raymond and the surrounding area - yesterday, today and tomorrow.

We'll enjoy lunch, tours, fellowship and listening to memories of the folks living here today who were students long ago at Sunnyside School in Whitefield Township. See you Thursday!

It's a lovely morning in the neighborhood. Just to the west of us, the walls are up at the new city hall/community center....will we see rafters soon?

We are planning our annual meeting which is very much open to all of you, the public we serve within our mission: Preserving the history of Raymond and the surrounding area - yesterday, today and tomorrow. Plan to attend and see and hear what's going on! Here's the details:

We have elevated our exterior space with new window signs! Many of you noticed and gave them a thumbs up! This summer we will work on sprucing up our entry area. Ideas and donations welcome!

Construction still continues on the new city hall/community center, right on schedule. There will be lots to see when folks are in town for Harvest Fest August 21-23, 2026.

Our grateful thanks to all who visited the museum on Memorial Day 2026 in Raymond. It was a spectacular Minnesota spring day! Enjoy these pictures and a short video on our uniform exhibit. We are proud to honor these service members, past and present!

A high point was our visit with two local (and recently returned from deployments in the Middle East) National Guard members - - Austin Towne and Molly O'Leary.

COMING THIS MEMORIAL DAY!
May is Military Appreciation Month. At the museum, we are premiering a special exhibit in honor of those who have served in the various branches. Our display will feature about a dozen uniforms on temporary loan from local veterans. We invite you to come and see! The museum will be open on Monday, May 25, Memorial Day from 10:30 AM to 4 PM. This is part of the community annual Memorial Day observance at the two cemeteries and the Harvest Fest picnic at the fire hall. Share this post and make a day of it in Raymond!
