The TCGHS works hard to preserve and share Tehama County’s rich history before it fades away and is lost forever. Several Society members serve as volunteers at the Red Bluff branch of the Tehama County Library. They prepare research databases, catalog photographs and documents, assist the public with genealogical and historical research projects, and help answer inquiries to the Society. Addition

ally, the Society is active in finding and reprinting books about local history that are long out of print but still significant. None of this is possible without the enthusiastic support from members of the community who believe in the value of history. The TCGHS is a membership society relying solely on dues to support its mission. Join or renew today to support and promote TCGHS’s historical stewardship of Tehama County’s unique sense of place—past, present, and future.

These boots were made for walking - and working! Sending out a big thank you to Joanne Ehorn for donating a vintage pair of ranch boots owned and worn by Gertrude Ehorn (mother of Ralph Ehorn). I have a feeling these old boots would tell us a few stories if they could!

Sharing this for the Sacramento History Museum. This is a terrific museum and the tours are fantastic! I took the "underground tour" and a Sacramento River tour last summer. Each were about an hour long - very easy to do on the same day and still have time to enjoy Old Town Sacramento. I learned so much of course, so much of that history directly relates to the history in Tehama County. The Scandals event sounds like a lot of fun!

Make a night of it in Old Sacramento! You'll find some great activities for a fun night for a date or group of friends in the historic district when you join us for an Old Sac After Hours Tour on Friday and Saturday night at 6pm.

Support small businesses by getting dinner, doing some shopping, trying the new Hawaiian Shaved Ice shop, and exploring the Sacramento History Museum (admission included with tour ticket).

The Museum will close at 5pm, then welcome our tour guests at 5:50pm. The break is great time to take a walk and photos along the Sacramento River.

The TCG&HS is grateful for the donation of a copy of a photo of Senator John F. Kennedy giving a speech to the people of Red Bluff, Ca. In this photo, Senator Kennedy is standing next to then Governor of California, Pat Brown. The speech was given from the back of a train on September 8, 1960. The photo was taken by local photographer and camera shop owner Ralph Ehorn and was donated by his wife, Joanne Ehorn.
Do you remember this event? And what do you remember about it?
