Beneath the Surface
Oil on Canvas, 2025

Michele Riche’s paintings explore identity and psychological tension through pared compositions and layered surfaces. By revealing traces of earlier paint beneath the image, the work holds both presence and absence within the same space. Riche's paintings in In the Middle of It, reflect the quiet complexity that exists beneath familiar imagery.

A Vessel
Cyanotype, 2023
Edition of 7

Joseph Annino’s work explores memory and perception through photographic imagery drawn from daily life. By translating these images through different processes, he reflects on the relationship between past experience and the present moment. In In the Middle of It, the work speaks to navigating that space between where we have been and where we are going.

Fish Bones
Oil on Canvas, 2026

Brandon Brownlee paints overlooked domestic spaces where everyday objects quietly accumulate. Shelves, tools, and corners become sites of narrative, suggesting unseen relationships between objects and the lives around them. In In the Middle of It, these scenes reflect the quiet moments that exist within the flow of daily life.

What is Counted, What is Left
India Ink, Smoke, Paper, 2024

Jocelyn Russell works through slow, tactile processes where form develops through repetition and material response. Layering, burning, and repair leave visible traces of touch and time. Within In the Middle of It, the work reflects the act of making as an ongoing process rather than a fixed outcome.

Eroding Vessel
Glazed Ceramic, 2025

Becky Bailey’s work emerges through material investigation and an attention to time and place. Her ceramic forms suggest shifting landscapes where surfaces erode, accumulate, and transform. Within the context of In the Middle of It, these objects hold a sense of ongoing change, capturing moments where structure and instability coexist.

Tennessee
Oil on Canvas, 2023

Working from direct observation, Amanda Wolf paints the tension between order and overwhelm found in everyday spaces. Organic patterns and recurring forms become moments of quiet structure, where chaos and calm exist side by side. Exhibiting In the Middle of It, her work reflects the experience of holding these opposing sensations at once and finding balance within them.

Tenth Avenue Freeze Out
Pigment Ink Print, 2020

Bill Gore constructs layered photographic assemblages from fragments of everyday imagery. Through digital deconstruction and recombination, the work collapses past and present into a single visual field. In In the Middle of It, these images reflect the way memory and perception merge as we move through time.
