Tomorrow the 12th of March has arrived too quickly and i was not able to get this message out earlier, sorry
please write today before 5pm Monday 12th
Kind of urgent that the public weigh in on the proposed plans for developing the property next to docktown marina. As of late the Strada group has proposed 131 condos, a small hand launch ramp, and moving the existing historic steel tank to a nearby location. The city has TOLD them to move the steel tank but I feel it should stay where it is and preserve the historic maritime building as the Redwood city historic commission has suggested. The existing launch ramp has been chained off by the city for a number of years now but needs to be reopened and kept as a viable vehicular launch ramp as a better use of public access to Redwood creek.

Feb 20th at the planning commission meeting a new and lower impact plan for 92 condos and keeping the historic steel tank in place was suggested and i feel the public NEEDS to show support for this newer plan In addition, a nice use of the building and area would be a sandwich shop, coffee shop, maritime museum and picnic and bike stop with play ground etc. It sits right next to the bay trail path and would make a lovely destination. (I know because I got to live right there for over 15 years. Sunset not quite as nice as it used to be but ok)It could also perhaps remain the Peninsula Yacht Club, a really special place and community gathering spot for over 50 years. Come visit with us some Monday evening 6-8.
this is the link to the planned condos at 1548 Maple street next to Docktown Marina.

web site address for Planning commission meeting Feb 20th when Draft EIR was discussed and new plan for 92 units at 1548 Maple St was suggested which allows for KEEPING the historic steel tank, building, and cistern, thereby preserving the maritime history of the creek area at Docktown Marina and giving the proposed Condominiums a unique historic focal point. How to provide comments: Comments on the draft EIR must be given at the public hearing or in writing by March 12, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. Comments on the project generally may be given in writing at any time or at the public hearing. All written comments should be directed to the project planner:
Lisa Costas Sanders, Contract Principal Planner [email protected] | (650) 780- 7363 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA 94063
Another idea to suggest is that the floating homes that have been vacated could so nicely become businesses, artist studios, offices, restaurants, or other commercial use. Heaven forbid that they be destroyed, they are a unique example of Redwood city history.
sorry the links did not work but copy and paste should
Thank you so much
