I am so excited.
I am beyond excited. A brand new Art Experience brought to you by NASA and Art Your Nite. This has been so hard to keep a secret, but I finally received the go ahead to share. I will be the first artist to instruct how to paint the actual Moon in Space. This is such an amazing opportunity ❤️. I feel so privileged to be asked to do this for the NASA program. I will start my training with NASA next week.
It all started when I received an invitation to a virtual meeting, through a "nasa.gov" email address, At first, I thought it was a scam. It was an invitation to a pilot program, the objective was to select the first artist to design and teach a curriculum on painting the Moon, aimed at inspiring future generations and making space exploration tangible.
The NASA Director of Public Engagement reached out with another email, so I thought we'll, I will call the nu.ber and see if this is legit. Once I found it it was actually the real deal, I started the extensive selection process, wanted to know your philosophy on art, how you perceived the lunar landscape, and your ability to explain complex textures and light. I am so glad that I love studying about astronomy, so I had some great answers to provide them.
Finally, the moment arrived. "Congratulations," from the Director of Public Engagement. She said, "Your ability to see the artistic narrative in our scientific data is exactly what we need. We've chosen you to be the first artist to instruct how to paint the Moon."
Next week, my training with NASA begins, I will be immersed in the lunar environment. I will be put in a simulated spacesuit to understand the constraints of physical movement and perception. I will study topographic maps from the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter and analyze the spectral data of lunar rocks. I will spend hours with planetary geologists, learning to discern the history written in every crater and rippled dust field. This isn't just a training, but a deep exploration.
I am learning to read the Moon's surface as a composition before I teach anyone to touch brush to canvas. It's the beginning of an extraordinary new chapter, and I am ready to paint the first stroke. I am excited to share this process with all of you, as I go through this experience and journey.
If you read this much, Wow thanks, JK 😜 April Fools, but would be a super cool opportunity. 😎
