It is with much sadness that we share that Bob Woods, husband of Carol (Mayer) Woods, passed away peacefully in his sleep this morning at the age of 93. Carol was born and raised in the Mill House, and she was the daughter of George Mayer who ran the Grist Mill until it closed. When Carol married Bob, they lived with George Mayer in Mill House for a few years before moving to Kenosha. When restoration of the Mill House began more than 25 years ago, Bob and Carol were involved. They were instrumental in encouraging relatives to return family furniture and portraits to the Mill House making our Mill House Museum an even greater treasure because it contains many of the original furnishings. Over the years, Carol and Bob shared many interesting and colorful stories of the Mayer family; and Carol often said she had a wonderful childhood growing up in the Mill House. Bob and Carol returned often to the Historical Park for many of our events. In the last few years after Carol passed, Bob Woods could be seen at the Mill House during the Thresheree where he enjoyed sitting on the porch greeting visitors who came to tour the house. We will miss Bob and forever treasure all that he and Carol did for RHS.
