There's lots to see and do at VMFA, from special exhibitions, collections that span the globe and the history of creative achievement, two restaurants, a not-to-be-missed shop, talks and programs that make the art come alive, and so much more! As of Oct 1, VMFA was certified as a Virginia Green attraction. It means we make recycling available, minimize the use of disposable food products and print

ed materials, reduce solid waste, use water efficiently, and conserve energy. But most importantly, it means we are always working harder to be better stewards of the environment. Don't forget to do your part!

A quiet moment in the final weeks of World War I. 🛏️

Albert Alexander Smith's "My Bunk" is drawn from his personal experience serving in the US Army during World War I in France. Smith served mostly in non-combatant roles including being a member of the regimental band.

The two men depicted sit in their dimly lit bunk honing their respective tools of their split role as soldiers and musicians—the r***e and the musical instrument.

👀 "My Bunk" is currently on view in the Cochrane Atrium Featured Acquisitions Niche.
