For this week’s Sunday Series, we sat down with featured artist Angie Cole to talk inspiration, process, and the ever-changing journey of being an artist.
Growing up and living in the Mississippi Delta, Angie says the endless horizon and dramatic sunsets constantly inspire her work. She and her husband often take afternoon drives to capture scenes she later paints — though she insists the real sunsets are even more beautiful than anything she could put on canvas.
Angie also spoke about the importance of teaching and learning side by side. Her students keep her inspired and growing creatively, and she encourages each of them to develop their own voice and style.
Though she once worked primarily in oils, motherhood and life led her toward acrylics, where she’s spent years developing techniques that still carry the richness and depth of oil painting. And in true Angie fashion, she reminds us she’s always done things her own way — including changing her artist name from Angie Crick to Angie Cole later in life. 🤍
Join us Sunday, May 23 from 2–4 PM for wine, cheese, conversation, and the chance to meet Angie and experience her work in person at Left Bank Gallery.
