The East Broad Top Railroad and the Friends of the East Broad Top are partnering together to add an additional stop to the Regular Guided Tours taking place during the FEBT Work Week.

During the weekend of May 30th and 31st, all regular guided tours at the East Broad Top Railroad will make an additional stop by the concrete pad, outside the paint shop, to get a closer look at Boxcar 174 and potentially catch a sneak peak of Combine 14!

Don't miss out on this special opportunity to get up close with projects usually off limits to the public and be sure to add a regular guided tour to your East Broad Top visit today!

FEBT President Andy once described the combined EBT and FEBT Track Crew as "Relentless". We like to think there isn't a more accurate description and the newest track in Saltillo proves that.

Why? Well the crew didn't stop on once the switch was finished meaning we can see the newest 60 feet of assembled track, with a further 60 feet laid out, in Saltillo.

Needles to say the crew is ready, willing, able and eager to continue building even more track and our work week next week is turning out to be the perfect time for them to do so.

The March to Saltillo is made possible thanks to you incredible support of FEBT's Annual Campaign, which, with your generosity, has raised over $375,000! If you wish to support the rebuilding of an incredible part of our history, then consider donating by heading to: store.febt.org/donate

And if you wish to learn more about FEBT's annual campaign then head on over to: febt.org/campaign

And don't forget to join us for our first Work Week of the year from May 30th to June 5th!

Continuing their efforts from Tuesday, the Full Time EBT Track Personnel and our FEBT Track Volunteers were determined to finish the second switch to be built on the March to Saltillo.

And finish the switch they did, by lunch time no less. The switch sits roughly 1000ft Railroad North of the Saltillo Station and makes the perfect connecting point for the station siding to tie back into the mainline!

But that's an effort for next week...

Our first Work Week of the year begins this Saturday, May 30th and that means its time to finish our look back at FEBT's April Work Weekend with the efforts of the Next Gen Easties.

The weekend saw them continue their efforts to get the belt driven power hammer up and running... and they were successful! With the assistance of an electric motor, the line shafts of the Blacksmith shop came to life one more.

The Next Gen Easties are a group of 18 to 35 (ish) year old's who have been teaming up on the several projects in the Blacksmith shop since last year, and will be teaming up on another project in the not to distant future.

If you want to join our Next Gen crew or help out on any of FEBT's other projects, then be sure to join FEBT as a member, and sign up to volunteer at: febt.org/volunteer

Our first Work Week of the year runs from May 30th to June 5th, meaning there are plenty of opportunities to join in!

Meanwhile, in Saltillo, the Full Time EBT Track Personnel and out FEBT Track Volunteers are diverging from their usual track laying activities to build a switch!...

Ok obvious puns aside, the combined crew was back at it today on the March to Saltillo and they haven't missed a beat.

Today's task was to begin construction of the railroad north, #8 switch that tied the station siding back into the mainline! When the day drew to a close their efforts resulted in a switch that was roughly 75% complete, setting the crew up nicely to finish it on Thursday.

And with the work week drawing ever nearer, you can rest assured that the switch won't be the only thing constructed in Saltillo in the near future!

As we continue to gear up for our first Work Week of the year, starting this Saturday, May 30th, we take a look back on the efforts of our track crew at FEBT's April Work Weekend.

The task was to put ties into track 6 of the EBT's yard so that the boxcars on the track could be easily accessed (you may have seen them on a recent visit to the railroad!). Part of the crew even took sometime to help make the wooden crossing near the storehouses a little wider.

It's rare that the track crew rests though, and rumor has it they were out working today. On what? stay tuned...

Interested in joining our intrepid track volunteers? Our simply want to help out on one of FEBT's other projects? Well, you can by joining FEBT as member and signing up to volunteer at: febt.org/volunteer and remembering to join us from May 30th to June 5th!

FEBT Work Weeks are always a special time, not just a time of progress but a time where far away friends are able to make the trip and join us for an entire week of work on the historic East Broad Top Railroad.

And our upcoming work week will be no exception as our volunteers continue working on Track, Storehouse 2, Combine 14, Boxcar 174, Windows and more!

And you can join in!

That's right, you can help restore the EBT simply by joining FEBT as member and signing up to volunteer at: febt.org/volunteer and remembering to join us from May 30th to June 5th!

As a aside, it's hard to believe that it was only a year ago when our volunteers completely emptied the first floor of Storehouse 2. It definitely leaves us wondering what kind of progress the work week will bring.

Today we remember and honor all of those who gave everything and made the ultimate sacrifice, so that we may continue to enjoy the freedoms we have each and every single day.

And though they are gone from this earth, they are forever with us in our hearts and in the memories we carry with us. Join us in remembering and saluting those who gave all on this memorable Memorial Day.
