Our Facebook administrator and Webmaster, and original member of the McMath-Hulbert Astronomical Society, Marty Kunz, passed away in April 2024. The remaining members have been active in many other areas but have neglected the website and pages. We sincerely apologize and are beginning to rebuild these important communication methods.
We had a lot of difficulty with the website, and have purchased a new domain at www.MHAS.us and have begun populating it with appropriate content.

From Spaceweather.com SOLAR ECLIPSE COMET: Anticipation is building for a rare sight during this April's total solar eclipse. In addition to the sun's corona, there's going to be a comet. 12P/Pons-Brooks will be close to the sun during totality, potentially visible to the naked eye inside the Moon's shadow.

Much like the Earth, our sun is a dynamic body with a complex—and sometimes violent—weather system. Solar storms eject highly energetic radiation that can impact our planet, forming strong auroras and disrupting power grids, electronics, and satellites.
