Susan B. Anthony Museum & House The National Susan B. Anthony Museum & House welcomes you to her National Historic Landmark home. Susan B.
(500)

Anthony Museum & House is a learning center that shares the story of Susan B. Anthony's life and work through tours and programs at the modest home in the heart of Rochester, NY, that was the home base for the great reformer for 40 years and through an online presence. Now a National Historic Landmark, the House was the headquarters of the National American Woman Suffrage Association when Anthony

was president. Anthony was arrested here for voting in 1872, and she died in her room in this house in 1906. Docents share the story of her courage and perseverance through tours from 11-5 every day but Monday and major holidays. During the pandemic, please book your tours online at susanb.org

Before the vote was won, the message had to be seen. 🗳️✨

Women’s suffrage posters carried the call for equality onto walls, into windows, through rallies, and across communities. With bold colors, memorable slogans, and urgent appeals, suffragists used design as a tool for persuasion and change.

Swipe to explore the posters that made voting rights impossible to ignore. ➡️

Congratulations to our Museum Educator Taylor Phillips and Visitor Center Manager Janelly Andrade-Gonzales, who recently completed their degrees!

Taylor is graduating from the University of Oklahoma's master of arts program in museum studies and Janelly has earned a dual bachelor of arts degree from the University of Rochester in American Sign Language and business.

Working while pursuing a degree takes dedication on two fronts. We couldn't be prouder of our hard-working staff!

This International Museum Day, we join museums around the globe in reflecting on this year’s theme: “Museums Uniting a Divided World.” 🌎

Across continents and histories, museums preserve stories of equality, justice, memory, and human rights. They invite us to confront difficult truths, listen across difference, and consider how the past continues to shape the present.

From the National Susan B. Anthony Museum & House to institutions around the world, these museums remind us that the work of building a more just future has never belonged to a single place.

Swipe through to explore just a few of the museums carrying that work forward. 🏛️

During her 1883 visit to Italy, Susan B. Anthony recorded that she had two cameos made in her likeness.

Today, both are accounted for: one is held by the University of Rochester Rare Books, Special Collections, and Preservation, and the other by the Smithsonian.

This cameo brooch, however, adds a mystery. ✨

Carved by Carter Pio Sotto in Rome and set in gold by George Blogg & Co. of London, it appears connected to that same story, but its exact place in history remains unknown.

Swipe to uncover more pins, brooches, and hidden gems from our archives. ➡️

Follow along as we continue sharing the stories and mysteries behind our collection.
