A September 1965 photo of the State-O-Maine / Van Baalen building on Camden Street. Built in 1939 by the Van Baalen Heilburn Corporation, a subsidiary of State-O-Maine, Incorporated, the facility produced a variety of clothing, including robes, swimwear, and leisurewear. In 1972, Pacific Coast Knitting Mills, parent company of Nautica Apparel, Inc., acquired Van Baalen Heilburn, and the building became the manufacturing home of the Nautica clothing line. By the mid-1970s, as many as 275 people worked there. Today, the building is home to Breakwater Market Place.
