Anticlastic Raising with Michael Good

Learn the technique of Anticlastic Raising with the master. Michael Good will lead you on a journey of a technique that is both modern and ancient. Combining demonstration, instruction, and hands on learning, students will progress through a series of exercises designed to teach the principles of how metal is moved from flat sheet into non-definitive forms.

Students will have a short time to practice each stage in order to digest the concepts presented before moving on to the next exercise. The goal is for students to gain enough of a foundation in the session to be able to return to their own surroundings to practice at their leisure. The course is designed for all skill levels including those with no previous metalsmithing experience. Michael’s philosophies and enthusiastic style make for an unforgettable experience! Complete tool kits will be provided and are optionally available to purchase after each session.

You will learn how to sew the pamphlet stitch, make an 8-page booklet from a single sheet of paper and more. All materials and tools provided

Paper Ornament Fun! Come see the Midcoast Maine Book Arts Holiday Pop Up Show and make your own paper ornament. This workshop is for all ages and abilities. Come in anytime from 11-5, purchase a materials kit for $5.00, and tools and instruction will be provided by Joelle Webber and Sandy Weiseman. As we enjoy our current show, on view through the 30th September, we are also getting ready for our next upcoming event, Midcoast Maine Book Artists, Structure & Narrative III, for which the opening event will be held 5 October 5-7pm. This event will run through the holidays with a synchronistic pop-up shop in December.
