The building today serves as a community center after having acted as a school and a church over the past two centuries. The Rome Courthouse was built in 1818 and served as the county seat until 1859, and then as a school and a church for the following two centuries. Today the building acts as a community center and is undergoing the first steps in raising funds for renovations.
