Howard P. Sears Jr., founder of the Sears Oil Co. Museum, passed away Jan. 17 at the age of 96. He devoted his life to his family, his business, his nation, and his hometown of Rome, NY. His legacy lives on in this wonderful museum, which is itself a tribute to his father and Sears Oil Co. founder, Howard P. Sears Sr. The museum will live on thanks to his foresight and generosity. This night view of the station was taken in 2005.

As we celebrate the 90th anniversary of the start of construction on the Sears oil company service station, we want to advise visitors that the city is tearing down the parking garage across the street. Lots of on-street parking still will be available. We will have regular staffing to greet visitors starting in mid-June. Before that you can call Pat at 315-336-0527 for a guided tour or you can stop by to wander around the exterior at your leisure.
