Reminder! Traditional Games will be taking place at the Saline Courthouse Museum tomorrow, June 5, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The games are free and open to the public.

Learn more about our Traditional Games happening June 5 at select museums across the Cherokee Nation Reservation.

From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., each location will feature live demonstrations of traditional Cherokee games that have been played for generations. The event will feature stickball at the Cherokee National History Museum, Cherokee marbles at the Saline Courthouse Museum and chunkey at Sequoyah's Cabin Museum.

The games are free and open to the public and offer a fun, engaging way for all ages to connect with Cherokee traditions and culture. We hope you join us this summer!

Decades of devotion to Cherokee pottery traditions and public service have brought renown to Cherokee National Treasure Victoria Vazquez. Join us as we honor the breadth of her work in our new exhibit, “Victoria Vazquez: From the Earth,” at the Saline Courthouse Museum in Rose, Oklahoma.

Now through September 12, you can view Victoria’s early work learning alongside her mother, Cherokee National Treasure Anna Mitchell, to more recent works that honor tradition.

Only a few spots are left for our two Cherokee Cultural Classes tomorrow, March 27!

From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Cherokee textile artist Eva Cantrell will be teaching a class on how to sew a pair of ribbon pants at the Cherokee Nation Anna Mitchell Cultural & Welcome Center.

From 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., The Saline Courthouse Museum is hosting a wild onion gathering and cooking class. Students will learn Cherokee traditional foodways from ethnobiology expert Feather Smith and participate in a live cooking demonstration from Chef Taelor Barton.

🚨 Spring Break is coming! 🚨

Looking for a fun, free, family-friendly activity? Take part in our Cherokee History Scavenger Hunt! Look for clues and hunt down answers at our national museums across northeastern Oklahoma from Tuesday, March 17 to Saturday, March 21.

Each location has new challenges to take on together, with historical questions and clues that point the way. Start your hunt at any of our six national museums, then turn in your answers at the Cherokee National History Museum in Tahlequah. Those who complete the activity will earn their place as a Cherokee History Hunter! 🏆

Get creative with family and friends this Spring Break!

Join us for Spring Break Make & Takes on Thursday, March 19, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Seven of our attractions across the Cherokee Nation will offer free, hands-on crafts rooted in Cherokee cultural knowledge and creativity.

Each location will feature a different activity designed to engage visitors of all ages. Staff will be on site to assist participants and guide each activity. Guests are encouraged to visit one location or travel between sites to experience multiple activities throughout the day.
