It is rare that no one is available to open our library but since there are only three of us, I am surprised it doesn't happen more often. Today, we all have something else to do. See you on Friday.

This year we are celebrating our 50th anniversary. It was August 5, 1976 when a renowned genealogist spoke to a group of Belgian men and women in Roseville, Michigan and told them how important it was to write their family stories and build their family trees. He also told them how important it was to document the lives of the first Belgians that settled in Detroit. They started building a collection that would become the Leon Buyse Library and Belgian American Museum. Our group's first magazine of the year is just going to the printer but it is not too late to become a member. $20.00 per year is what a membership costs and it gets you three Flemish American Heritage magazines and help with your family stories and family tree. We hope you will consider becoming a member.

Now that our lukken pre orders have been filled, we are offering lukken on a first come first served basis. We will be in the library from 10 to 2 today and hope you will come and take a tour of our library and museum and take home some lukken.
