The Field of Honor will be on display at the Person County Museum of History now through June 14, 2026. Each flag represents one Personian who has given their life in service to our country since World War I. We invite you visit, honor and remember these brave individuals. If you know of someone who we did not include, please contact the museum.

Our friends at the Person County Historical Society, Inc have arranged a wonderful program for next Tuesday, May 26, at 7pm at the Person County Senior Center Social Hall. This free event is open to the public and all are welcome.

We have enjoyed hosting the Smithsonian exhibit, Spark! Places of Innovation, for the past three months. If you haven't had a chance to visit we hope you will come on one of the last two days. The museum and Spark! exhibit will be open Friday, April 17 from 10am-4pm and Saturday, April 18 from 10am-2pm.

📣 Smithsonian Exhibit, Spark! Places of Innovation, extended to April 18, 2026‼️

We are thrilled to announce that the traveling exhibit, Spark! Places of Innovation, will have an extended stay in Person County. Originally planned to close on February 21, we will now have the exhibit through April 18! There is a companion exhibit that explores how Person County has innovated over the years as well that you don't want to miss. 🎇

We will be announcing more Saturday opening dates for this extended run in the next few weeks, and the exhibit is always open during our normal hours, Wednesday-Friday, 10am - 4pm.

Want to visit on a weeknight? Join us and the Roxboro Chamber of Commerce for Business After Hours on Thursday, March 12, 2026 from 5:30-7:00pm. (Please note, this is a new date!)

Our staff and volunteers are excited to visit the Virginia America 250 Traveling Exhibit in South Boston this afternoon as part of the commemoration of the Crossing of the Dan. More information at https://va250.org/event-detail/?id=24252.

We will be open our normal hours on Friday, February 13 from 10am-4pm, and our special Saturday hours on February 21 from 10am-2pm.

The museum family lost one of its greatest supporters with the passing of former museum executive director, Kathy Young. For nearly ten years, visitors to the museum were greeted with Kathy's enthusiasm for Person County history and her joy of sharing it with others. Her memory will live on in her family and in the impact she had on the museum community.

We are excited to announce that we will have the Smithsonian exhibit, Spark! Places of Innovation, for an extended period of time. We have rescheduled our Business After Hours for March 5, 2026 in hopes of better weather. We will still be open Saturday, February 7, weather permitting, from 10am - 2pm. Stay tuned for other events and opening dates for this exhibit.

The Smithsonian is coming to Person County!

From January 21 to February 21, 2026, the Person County Museum of History will host Spark! Places of Innovation, a traveling exhibit that explores how rural communities innovate to solve problems and address challenges. PCMH has developed a companion exhibit to highlight the ways Person County has innovated to address its own challenges. The exhibit is free to visit during normal museum hours, Wednesday – Friday 10am-4pm. PCMH will also be open from 10am – 2pm on three Saturdays, January 24, February 7 and February 21. For group tours or field trips, please email the museum or send a request via our website.

PCMH is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and donations are always cheerfully accepted.

Spark! Places of Innovation has been made possible in Roxboro, North Carolina by North Carolina Humanities. Spark! is a Museum on Main Street exhibition organized by the Smithsonian Institution and inspired by Places of Invention, an exhibition developed by the Smithsonian’s Lemelson Center for the Study of Invention and Innovation.
