Very little is documented about these Rolling Stones 1965-68 “Dutch Popbilder” trading cards.
These were made or distributed mostly in Sweden. Unlike the 1960s UK A&BC set of 40 numbered cards, a total of 25 un numbered color cards with different photos were produced for this set.
The size of the cards with blank backs measures 4x7 cm, while the UK cards measure 5x8cm.
There are 14 group shots. Each original band member has 2 photos with the exception of Mick Jagger who has 3. No collectors booklet was printed for this set and they did not come with sticks of gum, although they are sometimes mistakenly called Dutch Gum Cards, because other numbered sets with various artists , including the Rolling Stones, were produced with gum. More on that limited set in another post.
These are fun to collect.
Enjoy the photos!

Here’s a very rare 1964 Pixtar magazine spread featuring Brian Jones.
It’s similar to the Mick Jagger issue I posted about last year or so.

Hard to believe it’s been 20 years since The Rolling Stones Super Bowl. Seattle is back but not the Stones, and sadly still not the New York Jets.
Here’s a look back at some memorabilia from the big event.
Enjoy!

Tell Me 2:52
In June 1964, The Rolling Stones released their first self titled LP in the UK on Decca records. It was issued in Mono on a red label with white lettering.
By mistake,an early shorter take, 2:52, with a different mix was released with LP matrix numbers XARL -6272-1-A in the run off on both sides 1 and 2. Tell Me was the third band on side 2.
Strangely, the second issue of the LP to correct the mistake was issued with matrix numbers XARL-6272-1A on side 1, and XARL-6272-2A on side 2, but also included the 2:52 Tell Me.
Subsequent releases with matrix numbers XARL-6272-3A(4A) and higher in the side 2 runoff contained the common correct version of Tell Me at 4 minutes and change.
To determine if you have the early mispressed version without playing the record, there are other clues besides looking at the runoff matrix. You can’t tell by the front or back cover; all versions are the same.
First, the top of the red Decca label will say Made In England The Decca Record Company, as opposed to just Made In England. However, third pressings will have the Decca wording as well.
Visually measuring the width of band 3 on side 2 will also determine the length of the song. The width of Tell Me 2:52 is about half an inch, while the 4 minute correct version measures about three quarters of an inch.
It’s not known exactly how many mispresses got out, probably a few hundred, but could be less.
The value ranges from 1-2 thousand dollars depending on condition.
I’ll play the 2:52 version audio in the comments.
Let me know if you have one, or good luck finding your rare copy!

Some Girls is my favorite album. The Rolling Stones were amazing on the 78 tour.
I recently obtained some very rare UNUSED Rolling Stones Some Girls promotional displays in the original Atlantic Records Box, complete with instructions on how to assemble the two table top displays and the large floor display.
Thanks April !
These displays coincide well with my previously obtained 24x24 inch Some Girls display.
I’m proud to add this piece of history to my museum.
Enjoy the photos!

On December 10th, in IMAX theaters across the world, The Rolling Stones are re releasing their 1991 film from their 1990 Urban Jungle European tour.
It’s a fantastic experience to witness.
Here’s some original promotional items, press kit, and memorabilia from that time.
