Sometimes I get so excited to take photos that I don’t really think through the setting. Here’s a quick photo dump of details from my first glaze kiln unload with the super glamorous background of our still dug up patio. 🫣😂 My brain is calculating adjustments for next time, glazes I didn’t try yet that will probably work a bit better, and how to avoid a major misstep I made this time that led to a hot cone 6 instead of the low cone 6 I intended, but overall, I have some pieces I truly love so that’s a great place to start, right? (And all of that brain calculation is just some insight into how long I stop - I just…don’t. Welcome to the thought process of a scientist I guess?).
Vase shows off how some white glazes go blue-ish over iron rich clays. Cup is the level of coverage I will be aiming for in the future. Mugs are beautiful coverage inside, perhaps a bit light on outside but oh this clay is lovely. your Chocolate clay was a champ, even with my slight fumble.
Final note, be oh. so careful of decimal points! If I wasn’t such a mother hen, this could have literally held at cone 5 for ten hours. I caught it before that happened, but it definitely held longer than I intended! Newbie? For sure, but I’m also just bad with numbers to the extreme. Thank goodness the extra heatwork didn’t cause any real issues.
