this week we visited a recording studio in our new neighborhood and met someone almost as excited as we are about capturing our sonic rituals.
in between gluing strips of paper and fiddling with a moody coronet super 12, we walked over to explore the recording space and discuss ways to record our gongs, bowls, drums, synths, and other weird sounds through all of his wonderful gizmos and vintage machines.
names like sunn and sleep filled the space around us, uttered alongside nods of agreement and knowing smiles. we convinced our new friend to come back across the street with us and see the three shining, soul-shaking gongs for himself. the empress, the sorcerer, and the goblin king. they rang out proudly the greeting of creacada. he didn’t stand a chance; he was on board before the first of the trio finished ringing.
he also made a brilliant suggestion—an opportunity to get ivory in the game. a plan to open up the strings of a baby grand and let it ring alongside the gongs and bowls, to see if we can pull everyone into a kind of shared sympathy. a sympathy symphony. we can’t wait to hear what comes of that experiment.
this first project in our series will be dedicated to water. will explore the states, expressions, personalities, and postures of water. sound will provide passage between tides, into the depths, and between the molecules. art and story will add lasting dimensions of exploration, discovery, a deepening of connection, a spell to bring the power of water closer at hand. finally, ritual will make it so, consecrate and seal it, place it before the altar of the divine. it is there one must seek it to share in the experience. at the feet of god.
thank you for reading. stay tuned to , & for updates as we prepare to open our new living creative space, creacada, and share the system we have built over the past three years through experimentation and divine guidance. we look forward to meeting you there.
