Rutherford County Visual Artists Guild

Rutherford County Visual Artists Guild Art Guild: Pottery & art classes, vibrant gallery - downtown Rutherfordton, NC. Join us! 🎨 The Rutherford County Visual Artists Guild was established in 1999.

Membership is open to artists in any medium as well as to non-artists who wish to help the Guild develop a thriving arts community. Over the years, the Guild has sponsored many opportunities for local artists and craftsmen to promote their work and improve their skills and marketing strategies. The Guild’s major annual event is “Celebration of the Arts” held in September in the Foundation Conferen

ce and Performing Arts Center at Isothermal Community College. In 2009, the Guild opened the Visual Arts Center (VAC) on Main Street in Rutherfordton. The VAC gives Guild members a permanent exhibit and sales venue and provides studio space for artists to work on a regular basis and classroom space for workshops and education. Month-long exhibits are held for various art forms throughout the year. Guild members and guest artists offer both regular weekly classes and special event workshops. As a totally volunteer non-profit organization, the Guild relies on members to carry out all the tasks related to maintaining the organization and keeping the Visual Arts Center open. When you fill out a membership application, be sure to let us know about your interests and skills.

🏺💚 A reminder that art can do more than create something beautiful.... it can give back to the community too.

This Friday, participants in our SOLD OUT Empty Bowls: Make a Bowl, Make a Difference workshop at The Guild will be creating handcrafted bowls to support the Ruff'ton Roots Community Garden Empty Bowls Fundraiser.

These bowls will later be displayed at The Guild and gifted during the Empty Bowls Fundraiser dinner in November, helping support local efforts fighting food insecurity right here in our community.

We’re so excited to see creativity and community come together through this special project. Thank you to everyone supporting Ruff’ton Roots and The Guild through art. 🥣✨

Want to support the fundraiser too? Check out the Ruff’ton Roots Empty Bowls initiative and keep an eye out for future community workshops and events at The Guild!

🎨 Fun Art Fact Friday!

Did you know the Mona Lisa has no visible eyebrows? 👀

Some historians believe they faded over time during restoration and cleaning, while others think Leonardo da Vinci simply never painted them in.

Now you’ll probably look for it every time you see the painting. 😅
