Part I of our studio visit with Enchi Wang in the lead-up to her solo exhibition, ‘Presence’, is now live in the News section of our website [ LINK IN BIO ].

Read about some of the ideas and inspirations behind the upcoming exhibition, get a glimpse into the stories behind several works, and explore a collection of photographs from Wang’s home studio and the spaces she calls home.

Stay tuned for Part II of our studio visit, which will take place inside Timeless Thrills as Wang begins moving work into the gallery, putting the finishing touches on paintings, and constructing the large-scale installation that will serve as a central element of the exhibition.

🪞 Presence opens Saturday, July 11, with an opening reception from 6–9 PM at Timeless Thrills and remains on view through August 22. 🪞

Timeless Thrills is currently closed for installation and will reopen for the exhibition opening on July 11.

✨🪞STUDIO VISIT PART I🪞✨

Earlier this week, I had the opportunity to spend time with Enchi Wang (and Gon) in her home studio as preparations continue for Presence, opening July 11th at Timeless Thrills.

Part of what makes studio visits so valuable is the opportunity to encounter work before it leaves the environment in which it was created. I spent time with paintings that will soon be installed in the gallery, alongside works that Wang has been developing over the course of a few years.

I also love seeing the spaces artists create for themselves. The paints they use, palettes covered in years of color, furniture worn in from long hours of work, and the artwork they choose to live alongside all tell a story. Spending time in Wang’s space offered plenty of those moments.

Timeless Thrills is pleased to present ‘ Presence’, a solo exhibition by Sacramento-based painter, tattoo artist, and founder of Demo Art & Books [ DEMO art & books ], Enchi Wang [ enchi_____ ].

In ‘Presence’, Enchi Wang utilizes painting and installation to navigate personal memory, dream states, spiritual inquiry, and the interplay between natural and man-made structures that shape our understanding of the world.

Animals, tools, landscapes, bodies, and fragments of everyday life become reflections of the shifting relationship between inner and outer worlds. Her work traces grief, uncertainty, interconnection, and transformation, inviting viewers to consider Presence as both an act and a state of being - the physical self fully immersed in the unfolding of life, as well as the shadow and spirit selves that inhabit unseen layers of consciousness.

A television on a refrigerator, a pigeon on a balcony, rural streetscapes, and intimate moments shared with loved ones all contribute to a body of work that feels both deeply personal and universally familiar. The ‘Cosmo Cathedral’ series may be the clearest expression of ‘Retronym’s’ central idea.

Originally started in 2011 and revisited in 2026, these six works bridge a fifteen-year span of José Di Gregorio’s artistic practice. In returning to them, José resurrected a drip process that played a significant role in his earlier work, allowing past and present approaches to coexist within the same compositions.

Neither entirely old nor entirely new, the Cosmo Cathedral series reflects the ongoing nature of creative practice—where ideas are revisited, reinterpreted, and given new life years after they first emerge.
