We’d like to introduce you to David Saunders 👨🏼🎨
His art career began assisting his father, Norman Saunders — one of the great pulp illustrators — and found a mentor in Joseph Cornell while still in high school. His work is held by the , , and the .
It’s been nearly twenty years since his last gallery exhibition. We’re excited to change that.
“Rosemary’s Inspiration” comes from his “Paper Doll” series — in which he draws a figure, cuts it out at life-size, props it in an outdoor landscape, and paints the whole scene from life. The result is something genuinely original: classical observation and contemporary playfulness, side by side.
Join us tonight for the opening reception 🥂 Saunders will be in attendance. 6:00–7:30pm at Grenning Gallery, 26 Main Street, Sag Harbor. We hope to see you there.
