100 YEARS AGO THIS WEEK

The new Nash Special Six Series with 7-bearing crankshaft motor was on display in Sag Harbor. The first Nash car, a new sedan, to be sold in Sag Harbor, was bought by the Reverend F.V. Waters of St. Andrew's Church through the local agency of F.S. Schaefer's Sag Harbor Garage.
Continued increase in the number of automobiles was causing traffic congestion on Washington Street. It was so serious that all parking on the street was ordered discontinued by the village trustees at their Tuesday night meeting.
Talk about a whirlwind game – that was the kind of baseball the fans saw at the park on Sunday afternoon, when Sag Harbor trimmed Cohen’s Van Guards of Patchogue, 4 to 1. The famous battery of Ed Wagner, pitcher, and Whitle Pulver, catcher, were in Harbor line-up, and the support they had was great to behold. Fair-sized crowds were being seen at the games, but there were among the spectators so many tinhorns and cheapskates who failed to contribute towards the expenses of those providing the sport that receipts were not anywhere near $100 in any of the last seven or eight games. The home boys were nevertheless faithful and stuck at their posts regardless of the gate.
