https://linktr.ee/susiemccolganart I have been painting since I was nine when my grandmother gave me her oil painting box and brushes. When I was a little girl, we spent our family summers in northern Michigan nestled in the woods, on a little lake. I s
pent my days building forts, climbing trees, swimming endlessly and huckleberry muffins were a daily treat! But the most intrinsic, powerful soul-filling thing was feeling the sun on my face from the enormous sunsets showering the lake with twinkling light; making me feel warm, calm, peaceful and that everything was right in the world. I work hard, am passionate to create paintings that can help people. I feel the place I take the viewer is multi-dimensional both in touching places in their memories, in their hearts and taking them through a story leading to a safe enjoyable emotional place. My paintings create a healing energy through strategic color and lighting relationships and design, bringing feelings of comfort, warmth, hope and peaceful harmony. Like a bath of gentle happiness, and a hug of comforting love. That is what I want to give with my paintings. After graduating from the University of Michigan Fine Arts School with a BFA, and a Minor in Psychology and Art in Healing. I worked throughout Michigan as an Art Director producing award-winning illustrations and designs. Throughout the commercial work, my painting and portraiture was always my greatest joy and passion which I then dedicated my energies and career to the arts and my painting. In 2019 I had a near-death accident with multiple injuries and surgeries and after a year of recovery, I was able to paint and walk again. During this traumatic experience a new appreciation for life emerged. I am so grateful, my painting has become my highest passion, painting as much as I can, painting from my heart and sharing it with the world. I do a lot of commissioned work along with offering one-of-a kind originals, and prints. I absolutely love what I do and enjoy sharing my story and art with the world which you can see more of in my latest press and publications. I am so honored to have painted for General Motors, the Arts in Healing Program throughout many Michigan Hospitals, Lee Iacocca, Tom Brady, Chrysler Corporation, Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream, Dave Thomas of Wendy’s, Bo and Millie Schembechler, Coach Lloyd Carr, Charles Woodson, LaMarr Woodley, Carl Lewis, and Jim Abbot just to name a few. Creative thinking is in demand this year. When I am not in the studio, I am working with the corporations, brands, and hospitals that hire me for Art in Healing Design as well as advertising campaigns. My wheels are always spinning, and my sketches can always be found on a story board somewhere as I bring thoughts and ideas to life for those around me.
