Blackbeard’s power did not come from a single ship; it came from the fleet he commanded. At the height of his reign, Blackbeard led a small but formidable group of vessels that allowed him to control trade routes and overwhelm his targets.

At the center was the Queen Anne's Revenge, backed by smaller ships that could scout, chase, and surround enemy vessels. This combination of strength and speed made his fleet especially dangerous, giving him the ability to strike quickly and disappear just as fast.

In May 1718, Blackbeard did something few pirates ever dared. He blockaded an entire port. Off the coast of Charleston, his fleet stopped ships from entering or leaving, turning one of the busiest colonial harbors into a standstill.

But this was not just about gold. Blackbeard used fear and control to his advantage, capturing ships and demanding medical supplies as ransom. For days, the city was at his mercy.
