Sometimes you come across something that just makes you laugh out loud.

One of our wonderful volunteers found this illustration in the American Farmer’s Encyclopedia of Livestock from 1898 and couldn’t help with chuckle. Phrases like “Our Dumb Friends” were used to promote animal welfare movements. With animals this stupid cute how could you not take care of them?

This post is to commemorate the life of the most amazing volunteer, Shaldon, who was an even better friend. This wolverine was one of many times we got to be detectives together, squinting at blurry photos trying to figure out "is that the jaw of an orangutan or just a close up of a tamarin?" I loved getting to chat about your love for Jane Goodall and Dian Fossey, and crazy stories about all the amazing work you did worldwide for veterinary medicine.
