I was raised in Hutchinson, MN. I have been painting for as long as I can remember. My mediums consist of oil and sometimes acrylic. I started my college career at Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, where I was majoring in Art and M

usic. After my sophomore year, I transferred to The Minneapolis College of Art and Design. I graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. I am the owner of Kristin Briggs Gallery, LLC. Currently, I am living in Saint Paul, MN. My paintings consist of mostly nature subject matter. I especially paint trees, forests, wildflowers, fields, streams, and mountains. I am sensitive to scenes at different times of day and in different types of lighting. I am notably fond of lively colors in my paintings. Most people are surprised to learn that I only use only four or five colors for each one. In recent years, I have been particularly drawn to creating a variety of landscapes. Some of my most popular and acclaimed art consists of birch tree and woodland scenes. I am inspired by impressionism and expressionism art. My favorite artists are Claude Monet, Vincent Van Gogh, and Georgia O’Keefe. Much of my inspiration comes from lessons taught by my mother about the beauty of trees and tranquil waters on the lakes of Minnesota. Constant artistic evolution is important to me. I am always seeking to refine and improve my art with each painting. Inspirations for my paintings come from photographs of nature that I take. Sometimes I paint on-site at locations that inspire me and capture unique lighting and colors. Using as many strokes as necessary, I make sure I have a full brush of oil paint whatever the brush size may be and apply it thickly to the canvas surface. My work has been shown mainly in galleries located in Minnesota and South Dakota, including The Grand Gallery in Edina, Minnesota. I welcome the opportunity for new gallery showings.
