The north and south clerestory panels for the NET Ministries chapel are ready for saints. Each is 6x27 feet and combined will host 24 standing figures. They were rolled up for transport from the Art Studio at Providence Academy to my home studio. The blue waves at the base of each link to both the Holy Spirit wall and the Crucifixion wall as seen in the sketch model.

The finished Holy Spirit wall, 12x15.5 feet. You can see in the original sketched model how the two triangular windows will be cut out and also how the blue and turquoise originates at the waters beneath the crucifix and flows under the rows of saints on either side.

A drawing of St. Catherine de Ricci (1522-1590) for my Goddaughter, Tessa, who chose this saint for her confirmation and received the sacrament earlier this week. I was honored to be there as her sponsor. Glory to God!

June 3 is the feast day of the inspiring St. Charles Lwanga, who was martyred on this date in 1886 alongside 22 other courageous souls standing their ground against grave injustice and tyranny in Uganda. He was 26 years old at the time. I drew this portrait from the only known photograph of St. Charles Lwanga, a group portrait (containing 20 of the soon to be martyred companions) taken at the Bukumbi MIssion in modern day Tanzania where they had traveled to welcome the newly appointed Bishop to Uganda. (a quick search for St. Charles Lwanga will produce this famous photograph) He is the patron saint of youth, converts, and people who have been tortured.

May 26 was the feast day of St. Philip Neri, (1515-1595) a gifted orator who is widely remembered for his notable gifts of wisdom, humor and joy. Born in Florence, he spent most of his adult life as a public figure in Rome, both before and after his ordination to the priesthood, routinely striking up conversation with the rich and the poor alike, leading many toward a “new and better way of life” as followers of Jesus. St. Philip Neri is the patron saint of humor and joy, and my brief summary hardly introduces the story of this brilliant and holy man.
