Our sculpture gardens aren’t the only home to floral blooms at the gallery this summer. The spectacular ‘Peony Flower’ by the incredibly talented Eileen Gordon is on display now at Duncan McClellan Gallery! 🪷

Born into a family of master engravers in Norway, Eileen Gordon transformed a rich glassmaking heritage into a pioneering career in blown glass. After studying in the UK and refining her craft in Australia alongside some of the world’s leading glass artists, she became a key figure in Australia’s Studio Glass movement and co-founded the Tasmanian Glassblowers.

Now based in Red Hill, Victoria, Eileen continues to create alongside her family, representing the third generation of the Gordon glassmaking dynasty. Her internationally exhibited work is celebrated for its vibrant use of colour, inspired by the changing moods of the Australian landscape—from dramatic sunsets to delicate dawn light. For Eileen, beautiful glass is where colour, light, and form come together in perfect harmony.

Born in France and trained at Montreal’s Espace Verre, Stephen Pon is celebrated for his one-of-a-kind glass sculptures inspired by lyricism, dreamlike imagery, and the movement of water. His signature ship-bound figures symbolize destiny and have earned international recognition through exhibitions including SOFA New York and Chicago.

Pon employs the ancient lost-wax technique alongside kiln casting to create highly intricate glass sculptures. Originating thousands of years ago in ancient casting traditions and later adapted for glass, this painstaking process involves creating a wax model that is encased, melted away, and replaced with molten glass. Requiring weeks of careful preparation and firing, the technique allows Pon to achieve complex forms, delicate textures, and remarkable detail impossible through traditional glassblowing.

This particular artwork, “Tower of Babel” was made in our HotShop during Pon’s artist residency with DMG School Project. Visit our gallery to see more of these amazing sculptures!

Tim Rawlinson studied ceramics and glass at Buckinghamshire New University, graduating in 2011. After exhibiting his degree work at New Designers in London, he joined the team at London Glassblowing following an invitation from Peter Layton. Rawlinson has gained international recognition through exhibitions such as The Coburg Glass Prize in Germany and the International Glass Prize in Belgium, with his work now collected and exhibited internationally.

Rawlinson has developed a distinctive visual language through his cut and polished sculptural glass works, exploring the dynamic relationship between light, form, and material. His process emphasizes precision and refinement, transforming glass into luminous sculptural compositions that shift with changing light and perspective. Through this meticulous approach, Rawlinson creates works that highlight both the physical qualities of glass and its capacity for depth, movement, and optical complexity.
