There’s something timeless about gold.

Its warmth catches the light, adds depth, and brings an unmistakable luminosity to glass. And these? Aren’t they beautiful?

Today we’re featuring German glass artist Gabriele Küstner, whose intricate work explores the possibilities of pattern, color, and light through the ancient tradition of murrine. Murrine are patterned glass canes sliced into sections and arranged to create intricate designs.

Vessel 5.G.2013

Three distinctive vessels, each with its own character, yet beautifully united by luminous white glass and touches of gold.

Timeless beauty, crafted in glass.

The light is beginning to change, and although autumn hasn’t officially arrived, it always brings Stephen Rolfe Powell to mind.

Autumn Flirting Fig captures so much of what made Stephen’s work unforgettable: exuberant color, organic forms, and a sense of movement and play.

Stephen drew inspiration from the colors of nature, from the changing seasons to the spectacular sunrises and sunsets outside his Kentucky home.

In Stephen’s words, “My work is mostly about color.”

And what extraordinary things he did with it!

You’ll be blown away - Not only by the blown glass in our extensive collection, but by the incredible cast and carved glass sculptures that reveal an entirely different side of the medium.

Chad Holliday’s "Verdant Azure" and "Verdant Meditation" are cast in Neodymium/Alexandrite glass, a remarkable glass that can shift in color depending on the light source. What appears to be one color in daylight can transform into something entirely different under another type of illumination. Come see how glass, light and space come together in Chad’s work.

For Chad, light is more than a way to see the sculpture - it’s part of the sculpture itself.

Duncan McClellan’s new "Communication" explores the quiet, almost invisible conversations happening all around us. Inspired by observing the silent exchange between plants and bees, Duncan began thinking about the many ways we communicate - with nature, with one another, and sometimes without saying a word.

Come in for a closer look at "Communication", and enjoy a cool drink and engaging conversation with Duncan from noon to 4:00. We’d love to see you.

We had a surprise visit from Charlyn Reynolds (AKA Charky) at the gallery today! 🦈✨

Visiting from Miami, Charlyn creates vibrant, animal-inspired sculptures that are full of personality and character. She studied fine art and glassmaking at Illinois State University under John Miller before earning her MFA from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2019. She is well known for her engaging and energetic hot glass demos and continues to push the medium in exciting ways.

We’re excited to have this stunning peacock vessel on display and available at the gallery! Come see Charky’s work in person. 🦚💙

These remarkable glass octopuses by Jennifer Caldwell - flame-worked in a variety of colors and sizes - beautifully capture the otherworldly grace of these fascinating creatures.

And perhaps they have something to teach us.

If we had 8 arms... would we be more helpful?

If we had 9 brains... would we be more thoughtful?

If we had 3 hearts... would we love more?

Jennifer’s octopus necklaces and octopus arm earrings are also available at Duncan McClellan Gallery. Each pair of earrings comes with one of these intriguing questions.
