Ibrahim Miranda is a Cuban artist who gained international acclaim in the 1990s. A master of woodblock prints, Miranda played a key role in revitalizing Cuban art on the global stage. His richly colored multimedia artworks based on Cuban maps explore the island’s literature, music, religion, history, flora and fauna, Afro-Cuban heritage, its relationship to Florida, and both personal and collective biographies. The poetry and songs of Cuba inform the literary and philosophical depth of his prints and paintings.
