Finally swept out the spiders in my North Carolina studio and I’m back at work. 🕷️✨ Nothing like a clean space and fresh inspiration to get the creative energy flowing again.

I will be participating in Art Behind the Wall May 21, at the beautiful Saluda Inn. Spend the day surrounded by inspiring art, talented artists, and the charm of the mountains. It’s the perfect excuse for a little getaway, great conversation, and a wonderful day enjoying art in a truly special setting.

This 24 × 24 painting, White Hydrangeas, began as an experiment in mono-printing with acrylic paint. I love the freedom of the process—never quite knowing what will happen. Ready to change direction if things don’t go your way. Kind of like life.  The mono-print created a rich, layered surface, and I chose to keep a blue-green monochromatic palette to maintain a calm, unified feeling.

After the print dried, I stepped back and focused on composition, value, and intent, reminding myself not to rush. What developed was a balance between representation and abstraction. -printing

One of my favorite things as an artist is mixing techniques. 🎨
The background of this piece began as a spontaneous monoprint. I had no idea where it would lead. After it dried, I lived with it for a while, asking myself where I wanted to take it. Months later, going back and forth, the direction finally came—my favorite summertime flowers, daylilies and hydrangeas, with hummingbirds weaving through the blooms.
Sometimes a painting tells me what it wants to become… it takes time and patience
