We’re always searching for international talking boards to add to our collection. Kokkuri-san is the Japanese equivalent to the Ouija. This board is quality and we can tell the manufacturer Magma Games put a lot of love into it! We grabbed a few extra for our gift shop. Stop by soon before they’re gone.

A Japanese board game in the largest Ouija board museum in the world (Salem)

A product inspired by Japan, now sold in the US — inside the world’s largest Ouija board museum.

Everyone knows the Ouija board. 👀
The famous spirit board used to communicate with the dead and the afterlife.

Fewer people know KOKKURI.

KOKKURI is a Japanese spirit board, very similar in mechanics — but very different in meaning.

Similar board.
A coin instead of a pointer (closer to a yen). 🪙

But here’s the key difference: it’s not used to speak with the dead.

Instead, it’s used to evoke Kokkuri-san — a spirit from Japanese folklore, considered benevolent (and a bit mischievous), that answers your questions.

So while the Ouija often carries a dark and mysterious aura 👻 KOKKURI sits in a completely different space: more curiosity than fear, more folklore than horror. Surprisingly close to family-friendly.

With Magma Games, we brought KOKKURI to Europe, the UK, and the US. 🌍

From the very beginning, it resonated strongly — not only with spirit board enthusiasts, but also with people interested in Japan, anime, and manga culture.

And now, something quite special has happened.

KOKKURI is officially displayed and sold at the Witch Board Museum in Salem — the largest Ouija board museum in the world. 🏛️

Not just a store.
A place where history, mystery and folklore come together.

A strong signal that this type of product can travel across cultures — and still keep its unique identity.

Thanks to the Salem Witch Board Museum for having us 🙏

But I’m curious…
👉 Would you have the courage to sit at home, by candlelight, and try to evoke Kokkuri-san?
