Save the date for an upcoming artist conversation with ahuva s. zaslavsky and Shoshana Gugenheim Kedem on Sunday, June 14, 2026, from 1:00–2:00 p.m.

Join Oregon-based artists Shoshana Gugenheim Kedem (visual artist and co-founder of Art/Lab Jewish Artists Fellowship) and ahuva s. zaslavsky (visual artist and poet, Between These Borders Wanders A Golem) as they share their current projects and more than 10 years of work creating programs and spaces for Jewish artists in Portland and beyond.

ahuva s. zaslavsky lives and works in Portland, Oregon, USA. In her work, ahuva looks into the relationship of space and place to memory and trauma, displacement, belonging and rejection, power struggles, and unsatisfied human desires, grounded in a personal read of Jewish mythology and reflections on the relationship between the creator and materials, the circular nature of creation, and the potential of transformation and change. Through writing, painting, printing, sculpting, and other mediums, her investigations permeate the social and domestic, the cultural and psychological.

Shoshana Gugenheim Kedem | שושנה גוגנהיים קדם is an American/Israeli social practice artist, Torah scribe, curator, and chutzpanit. Her work often rests in the borderlands where tradition and change meet, allowing for new forms to emerge. Shoshana’s work takes shape as large and small-scale collaborations with public and private audiences in a wide array of contexts, from prisons to houses of faith, museums, schools, rural fields, and rivers.

Free and open to the public. RSVPs recommended.

Join us for Conjunto, an exhibition by Francisco Rangel and Stephanie Juanillo, on view through June 13, 2026, in the Annex Gallery.

“The act of preserving one’s culture, traditions and language is a form of resilience and celebration.” Through this body of work, the artists explore past, present, future, displacement, belonging, and memory as lived and experienced through an immigrant lens.

Art has served as a window and portal to stay connected to roots, traditions, and family. The artists hope this work invites viewers to connect with their own windows of memory.

Stop by Focus Gallery Wednesday–Sunday beginning at noon.

Call for Artists: Modern Still Life (deadline May 30)

Seeking painters, photographers, and multi-media artists for Modern Still Life, a September 2026 exhibition in the Annex Gallery.

This exhibition revisits the traditional concept of still life with a contemporary lens. Rooted in a genre historically centered on the careful arrangement of inanimate objects, Modern Still Life asks how that tradition can be expanded, challenged, and reimagined today.

Artists are encouraged to explore how contemporary subjects, materials, and methods can reshape our understanding of still life. What replaces the familiar bowl of fruit? How do objects of modern life—technology, packaging, processed goods, or personal artifacts—function as symbols of identity, culture, and time? How might the genre evolve through new materials or unconventional processes?
All media will be considered, including painting, photography, collage, and mixed media.

We are looking for work that pushes boundaries, reconsiders the familiar, and offers a fresh perspective on the display of objects in a creative format.

What does a third childhood look like?

In My Third Childhood, artist Limei Lai combines mixed media art, writing, and projection to reflect on her life between two cultures. Curious about how history, memories, and art inform one another, Lai translates her research in Asian American history and interviews with Asian immigrant women into a body of work focused on women’s life experiences, intergenerational communication, and cultural conflict.

Stop by Camas Gallery Wednesday–Sunday at noon and leave room to wonder what a third childhood might look like for you. On view now through June 28, 2026.
