EXCITING NEWS! The Eccles Theater SLC will be celebrating its 10th anniversary this November. As part of its celebration, it acquired a new plein air cityscape of the theatre by Karen Horne. The artist is thrilled! Horne participated in the The Blocks SLC Urban Plein Air project last July, where she chose this subject and created this particular work.

Horne has enjoyed the challenge of depicting the sleek glowing frontage of the theatre, and lively scenes of theatre patrons coming and going. She wanted to show the frontage activated with people.

This artwork now hangs in the Civic Museum on the 2nd Tier of the Eccles theater through March and will then be rehung in a permanent location.

For more in this SLC series, including available paintings of the Eccles Theater see the link to the website in comments.

The 22nd biennial AAUW Utah Women Artists show has opened at the beautiful gallieries of the Utah Cultural Celebration Center. Karen Horne is pleased to have her artwork "Synchrony" juried into the show, and displayed dramatically. This piece was inspired by a performance by Tablado Flamenco. Many thanks to the organizers of the show for their efforts and this opportunity. Its an exciting show displaying a range of media and over 100 pieces.

FLASHBACK! -
Visiting the studio of Randall Lake Art, reminded us of the times we had the opportunity to include his work into our early group theme shows. We included the showstopper, Crustacean Etiquette ..., into our early 2004 Glorious Food Show. (see flyer). Later in 2015, we were excited to spotlight his red studio painting into our Exploring RED exhibition. We have a snap of Randall, ever the perfectionist, adding final touch ups to the painting in the gallery. An honor to include your work, Randall!
