Skyscraper Lamp took home the W in our Crowd Favorite category for the 2025 Lamp Design Competition!

This lamp was inspired by skyscrapers and the glinting lights that reflect off the glass in the late afternoon. It is made with walnut, orange epoxy, and finished with Rubio Monocoat.

Garrett is a furniture designer based in Sandy, Utah. Inspired by master craftsmen like Thomas Moser, he devoted himself to learning the craft on his own, spending five years in his garage honing the art. Over time, he discovered a passion for chair making, drawn to the idea of several generations sitting in a single chair for decades to come. Today, Garrett finds some of his greatest joy in creating pieces for his two-year-old daughter, Pepper, just to see excitement on her face. When he isn’t in the shop, he can be found exploring the Wasatch with his wife and daughter, running mountain trails, or rock climbing.

We’re excited to announce the winner of our 2025 lamp design competition, and her B**b Light.

After thorough examination of all 13 lamps displayed abreast, our judges rated Sydney’s design most well-endowed in categories of Aesthetic, Creativity, Practicality, Ingenuity and Sustainability.

“B**b Light is a playful reimagining of the ubiquitous “boob light” fixture. Repurposed from a
builder-grade double sconce and thrifted schoolhouse glass, the piece gains sculptural
presence through added armature and a paper maché finish. By literalizing its nickname, B**b
Light turns a common design cliché into a humorous yet refined wall piece.”

We will be announcing the Crowd Favorite category in the coming week!

We’re excited to welcome back to the exhibit this year!
“44 STEEL owners Jason and Amanda Radcli6e create and design pieces by
blending raw industrial materials with clean precise ex*****on. We are a small business out of Cleveland, OH and each piece we create is made to order ensuring all of them are unique. We are driven by the goal to create pieces that are “family iconic”, pieces that are meant to be passed on through generations along with the stories that follow them.”

The winner of our 2023 Lamp Design Competition,
“These two lamps are playful and biomimetic explorations of laser-cut joinery. The lit object exposes paper texture and the tapering/bulging forms. Unlit the object is humble: made from paper and ply.
The simple fabrication enables me to iterate the project, exploring form, scale, texture, color, and how these simple changes shift the function.“

The Lamp Design Competition will be returning this year, submissions are due by September 26th!
