Happy New Year everyone! We are getting 2021 off to a great start by announcing some exciting new exhibits at TexPop! We are proud to reveal the opening of a new TexPopSA annex located inside the lobby at the Planet K on Pat Booker in Universal City! Our first exhibit there will feature our founder Margaret Moser's tale of the famed blues guitarist, Robert Johnson. Recording only 29 songs in his career, San Antonio has a deep-seeded connection with Johnson. On November 23rd, 1936, he recorded 13 of his 29 songs at the historic Gunter Hotel in downtown San Antonio which would later inspire future musicians such as Muddy Waters, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton and the Rolling Stones. This exhibit tells the story of Robert Johnson from birth to his untimely death and how he influenced pop culture for generations after.

Where:
Planet K Pat Booker
2501 Pat Booker
Universal City, Texas 78148
Store hours: 10am to 12 Midnight.

And inside our main gallery at 1015 E. Mulberry is a new exciting exhibit about the roaring '20s in San Antonio!

"Prohibition began January 17th, 1920...and San Antonio kept partying!"

This is a historical exhibit that chronicles the city of vice during the days of bootleggers, gun runners, speakeasies, and more! San Antonio was booming during the 1920s and even though Prohibition was in effect, in true San Antonio form, the party continued! Dubbed "Little Chicago" during this time, famous mobsters like "Baby Face" Nelson, and John Dillinger made their way here to enjoy the perks of the Alamo City. In one visit, they could buy their custom made, fully automatic guns, stock up on booze, visit the prostitutes in the legal red-light district, gamble, and enjoy the nightlife in our million-dollar theater district! San Antonio was roaring in the roaring '20s, and this exhibit surely shows it!

Opening Soon!! Stay tuned for details!

I want to wish a very special Happy Birthday to our founder, my mentor, and overall bad ass, Margaret Moser! We know you...

We're hosting an awesome punk rock/ hardcore pop up event Sunday, April 5th at TexPop!

Punk photographer and author, Pat Blashill will be showing photographs, telling stories and signing copies of "Texas Is The Reason". San Antonio hardcore stars Death Cult, and Amydgala will tear the roof off the place, along with some punk rock from RATS! So please come out to celebrate the spirit of straight-up Texas punk rock!

"Texas Is The Reason" is a punk rock photobook by Pat Blashill, and it documents the golden age of Lone Star hardcore, from the Bu****le Surfers to the Hickoids. Texas Monthly has called the book “gorgeous,” and it features more than two hundred black and white photographs and essays by director Richard Linklater and Jesus Lizard singer David Yow. Texas Is The Reason is brought to you by the wonderful and headbanging independent publisher Bazillion Points, who have previously published lavishly illustrated tomes on American punk and Norwegian black metal.
