Dear SA110 Participants and Community,
As you know, the Tower of the Americas will not be available for this year's event. Since we learned that, our team has been working hard behind the scenes, extensively searching for an alternative venue that could accommodate SA110 on September 11th.
We want to sincerely apologize for our recent silence. Over the past several weeks, we have been chasing a moving target. Time and time again, we believed a confirmation was within our grasp, or just within reach. We held off on communicating because we kept expecting to come back to you with a solid, confirmed answer rather than a series of uncertain or changing updates.
Unfortunately, the latest venue, a last minute hail-mary we had been working on, has now fallen through as well. And with September 11th now a week away, we can not ask you to wait for an answer that we simply do not have.
The 2026 SA110 Memorial Climb will not be held on September 11th as originally planned.
We know this is disappointing. And we understand how frustrating this has all been. We are right there with you. We also know that many of you have been waiting for answers so you can make your own plans, and we are truly sorry that we could not give you those answers sooner.
One thing we can tell you is that we are not completely giving up on this year’s SA110 just yet. Honoring the 344 firefighters, 70 law enforcement officers, and 9 EMS personnel who lost their lives on 9/11 is at the very heart of everything we do, and that mission isn’t going anywhere. Our commitment to Never Forget does not end here.
We are actively working to develop alternative options for an event on an upcoming date. As well as, in the meantime, a virtual gathering on September 11th for a shared moment of silence, small ceremony, and a tribute to our fallen.
We are obviously experiencing a year that looks very different than any of us had anticipated. We sincerely appreciate your patience and grace as we work through these unprecedented circumstances we have found ourselves in this year. We know you have questions, and we are working through them as well. We ask for just a little time as we determine what these next steps look like for everyone, and our SA110. Please stay tuned for updates and emails. We do want to keep you, our participants and community, involved in our progress and developing plans. We will share more once we have firm answers and information we can stand behind.
To everyone who registered, trained, volunteered, supported, or simply planned to stand beside us on September 11th: thank you. We do not take your commitment, your patience, or the place SA110 holds in this community lightly.

Moving Forward:
• For clarity: At this time we are not considering this a complete cancellation of our 2026 SA110. We will be updating you as things develop and of any changes to this.
• We are continuing to explore alternative options for our memorial event at an upcoming date.
• In the meantime, we are also considering a small September 11th virtual tribute so those of you who would like to, can still come together in remembrance of our fallen.
• We would also like to help in providing information for alternative options being held on 9/11 and ways to gather together to pay personal tributes.
• Your voice matters: We may be sending out polls in the next weeks so participants can help shape some of the options moving forward.
• We are also exploring special perks, and other ideas, for our current participants and community. (Another thing we would like to hear your thoughts on!)
A Small Request:
We know you have questions about registrations, refunds, event details, and current participant options. We are a small part-time volunteer team addressing large challenges this year. Please give us a little time to work through the details before sending individual emails or messages. This will allow us to focus on getting everyone accurate answers and updates.
ACTIVE Refund Protection:
If you purchased the optional ACTIVE Refund protection when you registered and already know you cannot participate at a later date and would like a refund right now, you may use that coverage.
(Please note: SA110 cannot process or access these individual protection transactions. They are handled directly through you and Active during your registration.)
To check for coverage:
1. Locate your receipt — Find your original registration confirmation (or Active Refund purchase) email.
2. Verify coverage — Look for the optional ACTIVE Refund charge on your receipt.
3. Submit your claim — Use the ACTIVE Refund Portal at refund.active.com/event
4. Enter your information — Use the Reference ID provided with your registration.
* As of our current info, ACTIVE Refund claims must be submitted by Tuesday, September 8th.
We will continue keeping our SA110 community informed as these plans develop. Again, we are very sorry for the delay in communication and thank you for your patience and understanding as we work through this together.
