𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁 | James Cobb was born in La Mesa, California, raised in San Diego and St. Louis, and has lived and worked in San Antonio since 1982. A self taught artist and musician, his early influences ranged from underground comics and Big Daddy Roth to psychedelic poster art and the abstract expressionist jazz album designs of the 1950s and 60s.
Since the early 1980s he has developed an extensive body of oil painting and digital work, exhibiting in solo shows across the U.S., Europe, and Japan, and participating in group exhibitions at major institutions including the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston, the Phoenix Art Museum, and the San Antonio Museum of Art. His work is held in museum and private collections, including those of Taylor Hackford, Henry Hopkins, and Hal Bromm.
James is also one of the exhibiting artists in the original Blue Star Exhibition that started it all in 1986! We are thrilled to welcome James back with an exhibition during our 40th anniversary year.
