The Briscoe Western Art Museum, located on the banks of the historic San Antonio River Walk, brings to life the vibrant culture and heritage of the Western United States. The Museum offers a permanent collection of Western art and artifacts related to the American cowboy, American Indian, the Vaquero, pioneering women and the many diverse groups that forged the American West. Families are invited to join us for a special Full STEAM Ahead activity where guests will learn about portraits and create a one-of-a-kind portrait of their dad to take home. ❤️

Held during Locals Day, the Briscoe’s Full STEAM Ahead program invites learners of all ages to explore the American West through hands-on activities inspired by science, technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics.

Families can also enjoy our Scout the West scavenger hunt and discover art, artifacts, and Western history throughout the museum galleries. 🔎✨

This Memorial Day, the Briscoe honors those who gave their lives in service to our nation. We remember their sacrifice, reflect on their courage, and hold deep gratitude for their enduring legacy.

Step into the striking world of Jay Dusard, where the American West is reimagined through bold black-and-white photography. Featuring mid-1980s portraits, landscapes, and abstract compositions, this powerful exhibition reveals the crisp geometry, stark beauty, and enduring traditions that define the West.

Made possible through the generosity of Keely and Byron Jay Lewis, this transformative exhibition is on view now through May 24, 2026 in the Kate Marmion Gallery.
