The CDF/CalFire Museum is hosting another work party for Riverside/San Bernardino Counties!

We are going to be working on the "Bud Lewis" engine. Thanks to Lou, Dave & the shop at Oak Glen, the engine has had some mechanical updates and work to get it ready to be used locally for displays and events!

If you can't make it to this one, but would like to participate with other Museum fleet projects, contact the Museum at [email protected]

We also need to develop a crew of volunteers STATEWIDE willing to work at display events, as assistant operators, and general maintenance and upkeep for our fleet of nine operational authentic Cal Fire historical fire engines.

Positive update: "All four employees have been evaluated and released..." Lets be careful out there.

Earlier today (5/1/26), while performing vegetation management activities near Covelo, four firefighters from the CAL FIRE/Mendocino Unit received burns and were transported to UC Davis Burn Center and Howard Memorial for assessment and treatment. Due to the remote location and the need to ensure our employees received rapid care, two of the firefighters were flown by helicopter to UC Davis. All four employees have been evaluated and released from the hospital.

The Calm Before...

The Cal Fire Museum is getting prepared to move - but our new home isn't ready yet.

We're about to embark on a cycle of growth and development for a permanent home. During this transition period, We intend to maintain our digital assets and resources, and shift to a series of online exhibits and webinars while we create a newer, bigger and better physical exhibit space.

In preparation, everything in our current display facility needs to get documented, boxed up, labeled and stored.

We know we have many devoted fans out there who will be cheering us in from the sidelines. If you'd like to help in this process, and assure that our shared history gets preserved and passed on to a new generation, this is your opportunity. If you've never visited our display room, and you'd enjoy getting a "hands-on" experience with our displays and artifacts, this is your opportunity. If you are available to help organize a day, an hour or a week - you can help make a difference, this is your opportunity.

Please contact us at [email protected].
Thank you for your support!
