Thereโ€™s an immense amount of precision, problem solving, and care that shapes how a body of work is ultimately experienced. Exhibition making is deeply physical and collaborative work. Many people and minds are part of it!

Known for translating industrial systems and collective movement into choreography, artist Madeline Hollander created ๐˜™๐˜ข๐˜ฅ๐˜ช๐˜ข๐˜ญ ๐˜™๐˜ช๐˜ต๐˜ถ๐˜ข๐˜ญ for the groundbreaking of Lily Kwongโ€™s ๐˜Œ๐˜ˆ๐˜™๐˜›๐˜๐˜š๐˜Œ๐˜Œ๐˜‹ ๐˜‹๐˜–๐˜”๐˜Œ.

Commissioned by ICA SF and performed in Transamerica Redwood Park in January 2026, the work drew inspiration from 3D printing, cycles of nature, and ritual movement.

Featured in voiceover, Kwong reflects on the conceptual development of the performance and her collaboration with Hollander.

Before ICA SF fully embraced its nomadic model, we were already exploring how exhibitions could extend beyond the gallery and into the broader social fabric of the city.

For this 2023 project, Patrick Martinez (), known for his paintings referencing vintage Pee-Chee folders, created a site responsive mural at Dogpatch Community Court (between 923 & 947 Minnesota St) honoring graduates of Alive & Freeโ€™s violence prevention and leadership programs.

Presented by Warriors Community Foundation, Alive & Free, and ICA SF.

Lily Kwong: EARTHSEED DOME is now underway at ICA SF at Transamerica Redwood Park. The installationโ€™s initial phases establish the site, materials, and collaborations that ground the work.

Over the coming weeks and months, EARTHSEED DOME will continue to build, adapt, and change in public view. Visit often to see it unfold!

Tomorrow night, Madeline Hollander presents Radial Ritual, a site-specific performance marking the inception of Lily Kwongโ€™s EARTHSEED DOME in Transamerica Redwood Park. Presented with programming partner Art at a Time Like This, the work unfolds as a cyclical ritual inspired by 3D printing, seed germination, and agricultural folk dances.

In this singular public performance, Radial Ritual continuously cycles from the future site of EARTHSEED DOME, through Transamerica Redwood Park to the location of the 3D printing arm, and back through the park to the site. The audience is welcome to follow the performers through the redwoods.

Featuring dancers Eloise DeLuca, Nayomi Van Brunt, Katie Gaydos, Natalya Janay Shoaf, Celine Alwyn, and Isabella Soo-Hoo. Costumes provided by Kamperett.ย

Live performances on January 17 at 6:30pm, 7:30pm, and 8:30pm.

RSVP to Kick Off Party is required
