"Meet Me in the Middle" placed the work of self-identifying female Iranian and Israeli artists into conversation with each other.

In a social climate where political rhetoric and generalizations often dominate global perspectives, personal artist driven narratives can supplement understanding and reframe our conversations about inter-cultural discourse. We hoped that the work on the gallery walls provided audience members with tools to explore the commonalities between the experiences of self-identifying Iranian and Israeli female artists working in the United States.

Each artist exhibited in the show maintains a unique and individualized relationships with their own cultural heritage and the contemporary socio-political realities that those relationships present. Through artistic discourse, our goal is to reframe the generalized notions about, and between, Israelis and Iranians into more meaningful dialogues between the people that comprise the cultural masses. Through shared artistic endeavors we can begin to better understand each other and ourselves.
