Which emoji did you pick? Read below to find out more about your astronaut suit.

And don’t miss your chance to see them in person at Life in Space, only at the Exploratorium until September 13!

🐰 Call me Dust Bunny: This speculative spacesuit imagines a distant future where it’s someone’s job to clean up the (notoriously sticky) lunar dust collecting on equipment placed on the Moon.

💓 Good Vibrations: This suit is designed to be worn inside a space station or habitat. It features strategically placed vibrating pads that deliver vibration therapy to key muscles and bones. And it's not just for astronauts; this vibration therapy suit may potentially help combat osteoporosis and muscle wasting for those on Earth!

✨ Shiny is Cool: This replica Mercury-era (1960s) space suit features aluminum-coated nylon that reflects external heat, helping keep the wearer cool. Adapted from suits worn by high-altitude Navy pilots, it was designed to keep you alive and conscious if there’s a sudden loss of cabin pressure.

💥 It’s a One-Person Spaceship: This Apollo-era spacesuit was the first designed to be worn outside of a spaceship. It’s fully equipped for moon walks with an accompanying life-support backpack; in total, the suit weighs over 180 pounds!

We recently welcomed members of the Korean press to our San Francisco campus for an afternoon of hands-on science and discovery — and a preview of what’s coming to Seoul! In partnership with Hyundai Motor Group Hyundai Motor Group, we’re designing a new experiential science center set to open in Seoul in 2032. The museum’s development will be guided by four principles — curiosity, creativity, community, and collaboration — that reflect shared values between the two organizations. It’s an honor to help nurture curiosity and advance science literacy around the globe, and we couldn’t be more excited about this project.

Visit our link in bio to learn more about our partnership with Hyundai Motor Group. And if you happen to be in Seoul in October or November, join us for ‘Have Fun with Science,’ a free pop-up exhibition at Hyundai Motorstudio Seoul where we’ll preview select museum experiences and collect visitor insights that will help influence the upcoming science center.

The Exploratorium's Tinkering Studio brought two hands-on balancing experiences to the San Francisco Public Library for Afternoon of Ideas. What followed was an afternoon of wobbling, wondering, and "wait, what???" moments that reminded us why playful learning is so powerful.

This work is made possible through the Playful Learning Museum Network. 🧡

Happy birthday to Frank Oppenheimer, the founder of the Exploratorium! 🎂🔬

Frank believed that science should be something you experience, touch, tinker, question, and play with. Thank you for giving us a home for curiosity, and for creating a community that continues to grow, learn, discover and explore together. We’re so grateful to carry your vision forward.
